ABOUT LAUREN
I’m Lauren Moissiy, a Bay Area native and licensed, board-certified genetic counselor. My work is rooted in the belief that people deserve to feel informed, respected, and never rushed when making decisions about their health.
“The most meaningful care begins with making space for the whole person.”

MY APPROACH
Clinical depth
I follow the most up to date clinical guidelines for genetic testing and recommendations, while also relying on my expertise in a multitude of rare diseases and disorders for which no guidelines exist. Experience and access to a connected network of experts help contextualize information for real world understanding.
Whole-person care
I build each consultation around what is most relevant to you. As an independent genetic counselor, I have the flexibility to spend the time your situation requires and consider a wide range of testing options based on which is most appropriate for you, rather than being limited to a predetermined protocol.
Steady partnership
I’m here to help translate complexity into a plan you can understand, trust, and carry forward. Some conversations need time to sink in - my flexible schedule allows for follow up calls, texts, and video visits when you need them. We don't need to rush a conversation.
WORK BEYOND THE CLINIC
Little Big Paws Pet Rescue &
Bengal Rescue Organization
I volunteer to support these rescue’s work caring for cats and dogs, evaluating shelter animals, finding foster homes, and helping more pets land where they belong, in loving homes.
And the benefits go both ways. Research highlighted by the American Heart Association found that dog ownership was associated with a 24% lower risk of death from any cause. Turns out, giving an animal a better life may be pretty good for ours, too.
I volunteer to help support education and outreach around Lynch syndrome, a hereditary colon cancer predisposition condition, because access to accurate, compassionate information can make a huge impact in care.
When 1 out of 279 individuals have Lynch syndrome (and most don't know it), rare doesn't feel all that rare after all.
With over a decade of experience in genetic counseling and medical genetics, 8 of those years working at medical genetics laboratories, I draw on both clinical and technical perspective to personalize patient care.
I completed my graduate training at University of California San Francisco, Stanford Medical Center, Kapiolani Women and Children’s Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, and John Muir Health.

LIFE BEYOND THE CLINIC
I’m an animal lover through and through. At home, I share my life with a Husky–German shepherd mix, a Bengal cat, and a foster dog who keeps every day interesting. Caring for animals has always been one of the ways I stay grounded.
I also love to explore creativity through acrylic painting, interior design, and photography. I’ve recently taken up learning tenor saxophone and am loving learning a new instrument as an adult.
